Description

The Cloud Tooling team is looking for a great Software Engineer to join us in building cloud automation tools to power Nike’s Enterprise Platforms and company-wide cloud initiatives. They will be responsible for implementing SAFe/Agile practices while participating in a high-performance team, helping to deliver high quality microservices, and contributing to improving team best practices and norms to continuously drive higher standards. They will also work to create, manage, and deploy cloud based automation pipelines with the expected outcome being integrated solutions that allow teams to self-service. The successful candidate will work to implement the vision for Cloud Tools and Automation across the enterprise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write reusable, testable, and efficient code.

  • Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and performance applications.

  • Implementation of security and data protection.

  • Partner with the DevOps group to implement improvement of technical processes across product teams to improve delivery and availability for platforms and Nike’s core applications.

  • Follow operational best practices for tools and automation development. Including: Style guides, versioning practices, source control, branching and merging patterns and advising other engineers on development standards.

  • Develop solutions in alignment with departmental goals, SLA’s for availability, scalability, resiliency and take steps to enable close to zero downtime.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in building production RESTful APIs with modern OO languages such as Python.

  • Experience with Git (Stash/GitHub) and Subversion.

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery pipelines.

  • Experience in Linux Administration, Automation and cloud technologies.

  • Solid understanding of SLDC’s, Common development practices, Agile, Waterfall and Lean principals.

  • Automation background in multiple scripting languages.

  • Strong foundation and architecture skills using AWS, GCP, and/or Azure.

  • Comfortable disregarding prior held biases and opinions in the face of new information and/or use cases.

  • Experience working in a matrix organization in a role that influences change though leadership.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Experience working in Agile teams and project teams.

  • Desired experience with Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM Templates.

  • Desired experience with Jenkins.

  • Desired experience with creating Single Page Apps in AngularJS or ReactJS based on RESTful APIs.

  • Desired experience with various database types (SQL and NoSQL – any engine).

  • Desire to learn and continually improve self and others though knowledge sharing.
