Nike Lead Technical Designer, Accessories & Equipment in Beaverton, Oregon

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We’re looking for an outstanding Lead Technical Designer with expertise in soft goods and hard goods construction (Bags, Headwear, Balls, Gloves and Protective gear). Experience with 3D pattern making, textiles, hard trims, molds & injected TPU, foams, rubber, casings and graphic applications are a must to be part of our creative team within Nike Equipment & Accessories.

The ideal candidate needs to be a highly creative problem solver, versatile and forward thinking.

A key part of this role is understanding the full scope of product creation from design concepts to production, building 3D tech packs, driving discussions to meet on-time delivery dates, leading the team with technical recommendations that elevate craft & quality to serve our athletes and consumers. Communicating issues or offering solutions in a fast-paced environment is a non-negotiable must have.

The Lead Technical Designer acts as a technical resource expert and able to mentor other developers as well as keep ahead of market trends and new technologies.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON:

The Lead Technical Designer will work on complex styles creating and updating tech packs using various 3D & 2D Software (CLO, AI, SolidWorks, ProE etc…) a plus for our PCC (Product Creation Center) and factory partners including materials, measurements, construction sketches and graphic placements. They will lead digital and physical proto review sessions with functional partners, PCC and factory partners, collecting feedback and capturing comments that will lead to a quality on time confirmable buy ready product. They will request and track prototypes, initiate testing, manage and meet their calendar target dates, attend meetings that relate to their product’s development and communicate progress and challenges to their team and leadership as needed.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH:

The Lead Technical Designer will work alongside other Technical Innovation counterparts and with Design, Product Management, PCC partners, Materials, Color and Product Integrity and wear testing teams.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical design and/or engineering (design, industrial, mechanical) or 7+ years on the job industry experience in lieu of a degree.

  • 5+ years pattern making & materials science or related field.

  • 5+ years soft goods/hardgoods product development experience with an eye towards craft and quality.

  • Proven experience using various 3D software (CLO, SolidWorks, ProE etc…).

  • Proven experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Knowledge of the product development process from inception through production, including construction, costing, manufacturing, deboss, print techniques, embroidery, materials and machinery.

  • Ability to write product specs and advanced construction instructions along with interpreting design intent and offering alternative solutions.

  • Ability to act as a technical resource, mentor others and lead initiatives through high energy and positive influence.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to excel in a deadline driven environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail and process orientation.

  • Proficiency with MS Office programs and confident using Adobe Illustrator and CAD Pattern Design software. Experience with CLO/Optitex/Browzwear/VStitcher/Lotta are desired.

  • Experience working with factories and vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability.

  • Ability to travel 10% (domestic and international).
