Description

The DevOps Engineer partners with software engineering to ensure that our platforms can be deployed and operated at scale. The candidate will automate operational processes including building and maintaining tools for deployment, monitoring and operations where they don’t already exist.

SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Driveimprovement of technical processes across Product teams to improve delivery,availability, and production readiness for platforms.

  • Developand follow operational best practices for tools and automationdevelopment. Including: Style guides, versioning practices, sourcecontrol, branching and merging patterns and advising other engineers ondevelopment standards

  • Developand advocate for Operations best practices, standards and processes

  • Providesupport to the Operations team to support, maintain and upgrade theexisting configuration management environment

  • Helpevaluate, build and deploy tools to assist with deployment frameworkrequired for each EP platform

  • Developsolutions in alignment with departmental goals, SLA’s for availability,scalability and resiliency

  • Helpdevelop strategies for zero down time deployments and patching

  • Workwith teams to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement inthe deployment and build processes

  • Practiceand mentor other engineers in continuous improvement, identifying andremediating manual actions and processes

  • Helptroubleshoot issues and work with the team to address root cause tominimize the chance of a second occurrence.

  • Findopportunities to automate as part of the problem management process,creating automation to avoid issues.

Qualifications

  • BS orMS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalentrelevant experience

  • Experiencein Linux Administration, Engineering and Automation

  • Experiencedeveloping, delivering and operating modern cloud platforms / large scaledistributed systems

  • Experienceworking with revision control systems including Git

  • Experienceworking in Agile teams and project teams

  • Automationbackground in multiple scripting languages

  • Directexperience with Ansible, Puppet, Chef or similar Configuration Managementtools

  • Cloudautomation experience with Terraform, CloudFormation or similar

  • Handson experience with delivering and managing solutions on AWS, Azure and/orGCP

  • Experiencein languages like Golang, Python,Ruby, Javascript, Java, Scala or Node.js

  • Experienceworking in a matrix organization in a role that influences change thoughleadership

  • Productionexperience with containers, container runtimes (i.e. Kubernetes), and/orserverless technologies

  • Desire to learn and continually improve self and othersthough knowledge sharing
