WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The Senior Technical Designer, Studio Expert will support development, prototyping, training and events happening within Apparel Maker Space, Olive St Studio. You will participate in planning and budgeting, maintaining studio inventories and assisting in equipment use and upkeep.

The Senior Technical Designer, Studio Expert is someone who’s pro-active, collaborative, safety minded, detailed oriented, and comfortable trouble shooting, learn new equipment and participate in process development. We need someone who can be agile and work in a fluid creative environment.

The Senior Technical Designer stays ahead of market trends, team goals, new technologies and consumer needs throughout the development process and engages appropriately to ensure projects are completed within corporate guidelines and goals for all facets of product creation.

What will you work on?

In this role you will be responsible for being a Studio Expert of all of Olive St Studio resources while working with Development and Product Creation on tailoring the product to the specific consumer needs.

Who will you work with?

You will report to the Senior Manager of Olive St Studio.

The Senior Technical Designer will collaborate with Technical Design, Development and Materials Teams to effectively implement product development & Nike goals and results.

What you will bring?

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in apparel design, textile science or related field.

  • Two years additional product creation experience may be considered equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years technical design experience in the apparel industry, which includes the apparel development process from inception through production including pattern making, grading, construction, materials, costing, manufacturing and quality.

  • Strong problem solving, organization and communication skills.

  • Experience interpreting design intent and offering alternative solutions.

  • Experience writing product specs and construction standards instructions.

  • Experience working with factory vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability.

  • Experience in Sewing/Construction.

  • Ability to manage numerous projects.

  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator, CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D software (Clo/Browzwear) highly desired.

  • Proficiency with MS Office programs.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international).
