Nike Technical Design Lead, Global Apparel Development Standards in Beaverton, Oregon

WHAT YOU WILL BRING?

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Apparel Design, Pattern Making, Textile Science or related field, or combination of relevant education, experience and training.

  • Minimum 5 years' pattern making and apparel development experience

  • Advanced knowledge of the apparel development process from inception through production, including but not limited to pattern making, grading, construction, costing, manufacturing, embroidery, materials and machinery

  • Ability to act as a technical resource and mentor others; lead initiatives and project teams

  • Demonstrated skill in problem solving and results orientation

  • Ability to manage a high workload and multiple projects

  • Proficiency with MS Office programs

  • Ability to use Adobe Illustrator and CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex/Browzwear) highly desired

  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time including International travel

As our Technical Design Lead - Standards, you will demonstrate an expert knowledge of the product commercialization process from start to finish. This role will focus on evolving size & fit standards for Nike across multiple apparel lines. You will apply your sophisticated technical knowledge related to product fit & sizing in order to provide leadership on large and complex apparel development projects. You’ll partner with our NXT Digital Innovation team to establish standards & process with regards to size & fit. This role will provide technical recommendations to build consistency of fit & sizing and to help achieve project concepts & global initiatives. You’ll provide technical recommendations and support to the Technical Design, Technical Development, and Product Development community and be at the forefront of adopting and adapting new tools and processes into the business. This role will ensure sizing standards execution: creation, maintenance, implementation, training and governance.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The candidate needs to have a strong Product Creation background, be a strategic problem solver and have an analytical mind-set. This role requires a working knowledge of 3D tools & technologies such as CLO and Browzwear. A keen interest in Anthropometrics & Body Data Analysis is desired. Someone who is eager to embrace new processes, tools and technologies and be able to use data for analysis and decision making. We’re looking for a strong collaborator, communicator and advocate.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

You’ll partner across the business to implement & maintain new sizing tools and body standards for Apparel Product Creation. Partner cross-functionally to validate standard methodologies and build libraries & tools in the support of size standards for apparel. You’ll ensure project concepts align with Global & Dimensional initiatives, determining methods and procedures on new projects. Using 3D tools, you will build virtual versions of 2D concepts to be used for Digital Product Creation. A typical week includes furthering projects focused on sizing standards, carrying out apparel standard documents and collaborating with cross-functional partners. You will also assist in training and mentoring teams on adoption of tools, crafting solutions to support processes and invigorate cross-dimensional standardization.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

You will be reporting to our Manager, Apparel Fit Specialist on the Global Apparel Development Standards team. You will partner with our Innovation and Digital Product Creation teams to establish standards, and generate processes & training content. You’ll provide technical recommendations and support to the Technical Design, Technical Development, and Product Development community and be at the forefront of adopting, adapting new tools and processes across the business.
