WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Industrial Design, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience and training

  • Minimum of 1 year work experience in a product creation or similar role

  • Documented Stretch assignment(s) will be considered in lieu of a previous or current product creation role

  • Self Starter that is willing to learn and grow.

  • Detailed Collaborator adept at working productively within a team.

  • Experience facilitating meetings, driving consensus, and influencing others is preferred.

  • An inclination to tinker, to create prototypes, to explore, learn, and to find ways to improve products through physically altering their state.

  • Ability to read technical drawings, sketches and/or 3D digital files.

  • Basic knowledge of materials, test methods, and properties and application.

  • Proven verbal and written communication skills with an ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives.

  • Experience in project management and problem-solving concepts and application.

  • Knowledge of product construction concepts, materials, and the product creation life cycle

  • Demonstrates base-level understanding of Consumer Product or Hardgoods:

  • Knowledge of product/footwear pattern engineering, tooling or manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to identify & suggest cost effective solutions.

  • Knowledge of materials, test methods, and properties and application.

  • Ability to read technical drawings, sketches and/or 3D digital files.

  • Experience testing and validating product for manufacturability and performance.

  • Creative problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for multiple Footwear Technical Developer 1 to be an integral part of our Footwear Product Team! The ideal candidate needs to be a self-starter, a quick learner, a strong communicator, a team player and exhibit leadership skills. This posting is for two distinct roles: Footwear Technical Developer 1 working on Product with our Kids team and Footwear Technical Developer 1 working on Process and Tools in with our New Digital Capabilities team. For both, you'll assist in driving project and process direction within the project team.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will guide and follow through on the decision-making process that leads to timely product confirmation and sample delivery. You'll complete product development according to critical dates and performance/profitability goals. You'll ensure manufacturability of product concepts and apply footwear knowledge and instruments to optimally and appropriately achieve project designs. You'll apply fundamental understanding of category standard methodologies to identify product and testing requirements and assure product performance through product testing when vital. You will recommend and specify material, component and construction options to meet key features and product performance goals. In addition, you'll engage in all phases of the product process to ensure projects are completed on time, can be commercialized, manufactured, while meeting design intent performance, costing and sustainability goals.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

As a member of our team, you will work with key functional partners like: Partner PCC and PMO Teams, Footwear Engineering, Footwear Product Testing, Footwear Material Design and Development, Product Design, Product Management and Operations Teams. You will report to the Footwear Tech Development Director of Kids, or the Senior Director Technical Development Footwear Excellence. You will need to navigate the Nike matrix to ensure that our processes model and match Footwear Development standard methodologies for product excellence. You are the key point of contact for our PCC and PMO partners and ensure that communication during the product development process is clear and accurate.
