Nike Senior Researcher, Biomechanics, GC in Shanghai, China

Description:

The NSRL Senior Researcher will gain experience leading and conducting athlete research from the leading Sport Research Lab in the world. The primary responsibilities of the Senior Researcher will be to lead, conduct, and assist in the daily functional operations of the Nike Sport Research Lab at Greater China Headquarters, in Shanghai, China. Daily tasks will include but not be limited to equipment maintenance, facility operations, working directly with athletes, conducting research (collecting data, conditioning data, analyzing data, interpreting results and compiling reports). The Senior Researcher will also gain knowledge on how the lab influences and impacts the goal of serving athletes and creating the future of sport.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and assist researchers in the collection of athlete data.

  • Conduct data collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination.

  • Restock lab areas and assure proper organization and cleanliness.

  • Oversee the lab schedule.

  • Produce operational reports for lab activity and maintenance.

  • Coordinate vendor visits for equipment maintenance and upgrades.

  • Aid in lab preventative maintenance and proactively troubleshoot equipment.

  • Working with tools, diagnostic equipment, including electrical systems.

  • Execute on key lab initiatives and meet timelines.

  • Daily: calibration, commissioning, and validation of lab equipment

  • Manage, track, and audit storage of lab equipment and consumables.

  • Maintain connection with the WHQ NSRL F&E team, Baseline team, and Form team.

  • Ability to observe, gather, and share feedback about the athlete* experience.

  • Provide athletes* with feedback and representing the NSRL in a professional manner.

  • Give direct support to the NSRL China personnel.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in biomedical engineering, exercise science, bioengineering, biomechanics, or related field.

  • 3-5 relevant years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in a biomechanics lab or a research lab that involved data collection on human subjects.

  • Experience working with athletes* providing consultations and data interpretation.

  • In depth experience working with human movement science equipment such as but not limited to: foot scanners, body scanners, instrumented treadmills, foot pressure mapping tools, force plates, motion analysis systems.

  • Software writing, interpretation and troubleshooting skills with MATLAB, Python or other data collections and processing tools.

  • Comfortable with the use of various instruments to collect human movement data.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating effective listening through concise, clear verbal and written communication. (Mandarin and English)

  • Demonstration of innovation and initiative – always looking to improve processes while also displaying a willingness to dive into the details.

  • Comfortable working independently and in ambiguity when the solution is not always clear.

  • Possess a detailed and methodical approach to problem solving.

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex topics and concepts to a wide and diverse technical and non-technical audience.

  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for sports and healthy living.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and work in a dynamic, results-oriented environment.
