Nike Project and Operations Marketing Lead - Nike Canada in Toronto, Ontario

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

This individual will help streamline our approach and execution of project management. In addition, this candidate will lead some marketing projects, and be a pivotal support for others bodies of work. Consequently, the candidate should have comprehensive experience on managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will mine and share consumer insights and opportunities for the brand. You will collaborate with teammates across Nike to bring creative thinking to life. You will execute plans anchored in our athletes, innovation, and marketplace. You will build relationships with internal/external partners, community leaders, and Canadian athletes.

Our Team is divided into two core teams Nike Store Partner (NSP) and Nike Marketplace Partner (NMP). We will be hiring two Project and Operations Leads, dedicating one to each of these teams.

You’ll work alongside the director, leads, and specialists in developing marketing strategies and driving consumer connection with Nike. A typical day will include equal parts internal and external conversations. Your internal Nike teammates will include SCI, sports marketing, sales, merch, planning, and finance supply chain. External relationship management includes, but is not limited to, local athletes, coaches, organizations, and agency partners.

As Project Management Lead for assigned areas, you will own and lead the end-to-end project execution, from briefings to recaps.

Below is a list of some pivotal skills and actions required to fulfill.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across cities, geos, and global

  • Implement new best practices to create efficiencies across the team

  • i.e. author new playbooks for how we go-to-market for NSP openings in Canada

  • Expand the greater team’s understanding of the consumer, including aspirations, behaviors, interests, functional needs and values

  • i.e. Oversee the end-to-end insights gathering process

  • Lead strategicmobilization of seasonal CODE and 365 planning

  • Serve as a key contributor for key Fields of Play and ideate creative opportunities for local activation

  • i.e. Share knowledge and trends with the team & help discover Toronto-based talent

  • Support mutually beneficial partnerships across the creative, media and sport community and the brand

  • Contribute to updating the new roster of local marketing agencies

  • Track notes and deliverables in integrated marketing & team meetings

  • Act as a key author for all team contracts & admin milestones

  • (i.e. across finance, Contract Central, Trademark Aravo, legal, etc…)

  • Fulfill the seasonal Canadian product contract(s), from forecast to launch

  • which can include design (i.e. grassroots events like OFSAA)

  • Experience in internal tools a benefit: SAP, coupa, contract central,etc

  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, Keynote, PowerPoint.AirTable a major bonus.

  • Experience with finance (cutting POs) and using other corporate tools to move work forward

  • Detail oriented & results oriented. This position requires someone who can plan ahead, think analytically, and keep projects moving in the right direction despite ambiguity

  • Key lifeline on our team as the "doer" when it comes to mobilizing the right tools to launch and execute a project

  • Strong passion and expertise for either Future of Fitness / Running or Basketball

  • Ability to develop and maintain fair and honest relationships at all levels, both internally and externally

  • Ability to build and manage relationships with key accounts, organizations and individuals in and around the Canada sport communities

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree/College diploma in related field

  • Applied Project management experience 

  • 3+ years relevant work experience

The Canadian Merchandising Team is looking for a Senior Merchant who utilizes trends, data, history, and consumer knowledge to drive profitable and consumer-right assortments for the Canadian Territory. This role will partner with local cross-functional teams and across NA merchandising groups to land end-in-mind assortments. Strategic thinking, consumer expertise, balancing competing priorities, and the ability to influence and collaborate will be critical for this role.

This candidate should possess an understanding of the Nike consumer and marketplace landscapes. The candidate should possess solid retail acumen and analytical skills, and an understanding of retail environments.

At times working autonomously, agile, and solution-oriented, this role is responsible for driving the consumer product offering across the different merchandising dimensions ultimately curating and influencing the product offering for the Canadian Marketplace (from adoption to retail assortment). They will also focus on the multi-season strategic management of Nike’s most innovative franchises!

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will build Canadian consumer-centric assortment plans with an understanding of the full marketplace, blending fact-based and intuitive inputs. You will participate in NA GEO seasonal reviews & will be assortment-building in partnership with select marketplace account teams.

You will balance multiple seasons. Your insights will contribute to future season and Territory adoption plans by collaborating with local Marketplace, Planning, and Marketing Teams. You will manage your areas of assortment planning in depth during the seasonal process and gather consumer trends and marketplace insights from in-market seasons.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will work closely with fellow merchants and cross-functional teams within Geo merchandising, Planning, Allocation, and Brand Marketing. We will work with finance and operations teams; relying on business reporting for your area which includes quantitative and qualitative metrics on sales, inventory, and consumer behaviors.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or a combination of relevant education, experience, and training

  • 4+ years’ experience in Footwear, Apparel, Equipment, or relevant consumer product merchandising, product creation and/or retail in a vertical, multi-brand, or digital environment

  • Strong command of common retail and/or digital metrics such as sell-through, margin, full price realization, weeks of supply, etc.

  • Proven ability to translate consumer, sales, trend, and marketplace insights into in-season and long-term breakthrough strategies.

  • Preparing seasonal tools to equip your marketplace partners with an understanding of seasonal priorities.

  • Experience developing strong working relationships with teammates and cross-functional partners.

  • Great teammate and contributor, with an attitude and excitement to learn new things.

  • Strong communication skills and comfort navigating a cross-functional matrix with an emphasis on influencing skills.

  • Attention to detail, understanding the importance of consistency.
